Salmon DNA (Polynucleotide) Treatment

What is salmon DNA treatment?

Salmon DNA, known medically as polynucleotide treatment, is a type of mesotherapy. Molecules derived from salmon DNA are given into the skin with small injections. The aim is to stimulate cell renewal and support the tissue’s own repair process.

A cream or serum applied to the skin stays in the top layer. With injected treatments such as salmon DNA, the product reaches the target tissue directly.

Which areas is it used on?

It can be used on the face, neck, décolletage and hands. There is also a separate version planned for the area around the eyes.

What is the difference between salmon DNA and PRP?

PRP is prepared from the person’s own blood: the blood is separated in a centrifuge and the growth factors in the platelet-rich part are used. Salmon DNA is a type of mesotherapy given from outside that stimulates cell renewal. The two treatments can be done in the same person in different sessions.

How many sessions are done?

Salmon DNA is not finished in one session; it is planned as a course at regular intervals. Because skin renewal takes a certain time, sessions are spaced to fit that cycle. How many sessions are needed varies with the condition of the skin.

Which treatment suits you and how many sessions are planned is decided at the consultation. Salmon DNA treatment is carried out by Dr. Oya Oylum Argun at the practice in Muratpaşa, Antalya.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a swimming pool after salmon DNA treatment?

No swimming pool for one day after salmon DNA treatment. This rule applies to all injections, including Botox, filler and mesotherapy. There is no restriction of this kind on the following days. Flying on the same day after treatment is also possible. If you are in Antalya on holiday, the day of treatment can be chosen around your pool and sea plans.

Can I fly on the same day after salmon DNA treatment?

Yes, flying on the same day after salmon DNA treatment is possible. This applies to all treatments at the practice. If dental treatment is also planned on the same trip, no skin treatment is ruled out; only the timing is planned. The doctor makes the final plan separately for each patient, after the skin analysis. No swimming pool for one day after treatment.

Are salmon DNA and skin boosters the same thing?

No, they serve different purposes. Skin booster treatments are aimed at the skin’s ability to hold moisture. Salmon DNA, that is polynucleotide treatment, supports the tissue’s own repair process with molecules whose source is salmon DNA. Both are planned as a course. Which one suits you is decided at the consultation. The number of sessions needed varies with the condition of the skin.

What should I tell the doctor before salmon DNA treatment?

The medicines and creams you use, your other health conditions, and pregnancy, a planned pregnancy or breastfeeding should be mentioned at the consultation, because some treatments are not used in these periods. A photo of the medicine boxes is enough. Do not try new products in the days before the consultation, because a reaction to a new product can be confused with the actual complaint.

Why is the skin barrier important?

The skin barrier slows the evaporation of water from inside and stops irritants from outside from getting through. When the barrier weakens, tightness, flaking, redness and sudden sensitivity to products begin. Hot and long showers, harsh cleansers and frequent scrubbing are the main habits that damage the barrier. While the barrier is weak, strong ingredients are not started straight away; moisturising comes first.
