PRP for Skin and Hair: Regenerative Treatment
Author: Uzm. Dr. Oya Oylum Argun

PRP is prepared from your own blood. The blood sample is spun in a centrifuge and the platelet-rich portion is separated. Nothing is added from outside.
Platelets are known as the cells that stop bleeding. They also contain growth factors involved in tissue repair. The idea behind the treatment is to concentrate that repair signal where it is needed.
In the skin it is used for tissue quality and vitality. On the scalp it is applied to the layer where the hair roots sit, in cases of hair loss.
What affects the result is less the treatment itself than the underlying cause. If hair loss is caused by iron deficiency or a thyroid problem, that is assessed first. This is why a blood test may be requested before deciding on PRP.
The treatment may not be suitable with blood disorders, some medications or pregnancy. These are asked about at the consultation.
PRP is carried out at the practice in Muratpaşa, Antalya, by Dr. Oya Oylum Argun. Whether it is planned for hair or skin is decided at the consultation.
