Botox temporarily reduces the nerve signal that reaches a muscle. The effect wears off on its own over time and the muscle goes back to moving as before.

When Botox is stopped, the face returns to how it was before the treatment. Wrinkles do not become deeper than they were before the treatment. In the meantime, the skin carries on ageing naturally.

Is Botox harmful? When it is given by a doctor, for the right indication and at the right dose, side effects are mostly temporary. Bruising and headache can occur at the injection site, and, rarely, the eyelid can droop.
